Robert Fitzpatrick Named CEO of Recharge Industries™

Australia, November 23, 2022 - Rob Fitzpatrick has been named Chief Executive Officer of Recharge Industries™. An industry and technology expert, Rob brings to this role more than 30 years’ experience in leadership roles across the spectrum of large corporations, government agencies, and across multiple industry sectors. He possesses a detailed understanding of the renewable energy industry along with research and innovation, retail, telecommunications and information and communications technology sectors.

Rob joins Recharge Industries™ at a critical juncture, as the organization commences the process of bringing advanced battery manufacturing to Australia via its Geelong-based, 30GWh green lithium-ion battery production facility. The first 6Gwh phase is due to be completed in 2024, with the initial 2Gwh coming online during the second half of 2023. The facility will employ an estimated 1500 to 2000 workers at scale.

Recharge Industries™ is a Scale Facilitation® portfolio company. Scale Facilitation® holds the exclusive licensing of the green battery IP for the Recharge Industries™ facilities and has secured a qualified supply chain of over 230 partners as well as the technology being used to build their facilities.

As Rob says, “This is a critical moment in time for Australia’s renewable energy economy, meeting national demand and generating export income. Our intent is to leverage domestic industry partners to strengthen the existing secure supply chain, retaining value-add for Australian companies, while generating thousands of jobs and attracting large-scale investment, developing sovereign capability in this critical industry. Batteries are the ‘picks and shovels’ in the modern era’s energy gold rush; Recharge Industries™ will supply this capability domestically at a scale designed to meet needs of key players in Australia and the Indo-Pacific region.”

“We are extremely lucky to have recruited Rob to lead our efforts at Recharge Industries™. His experience lends itself perfectly to our vision of Australia moving up multiple rungs of the value-chain ladder. With the critical minerals Australia possesses, lets own it, we are the new Saudi Arabia of the next energy century, except now with advanced manufacturing in critical industries, we can multiply the benefit to the nation. Australians need to start thinking that way, Rob does, which is why Rob is the perfect CEO for Recharge Industries™,” says Scale Facilitation® Founder and CEO, David A. Collard.

Rob’s previous board and senior executive roles include McKinsey & Company, Optus, ShopFast, Charles Sturt University, CSIRO Data61 (formerly NICTA), and CEO of Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA), Gelion UK and Gelion Technologies.

Rob retains his roles as a non-executive director for the Australian Academic and Research Network (AARNet), Laava.id and Farmbot Monitoring Systems.

He holds Economics and Law degrees from the University of Sydney and a Master’s in Business Administration from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
